Beginner Spins

Beginner Spins 2016

Over the past few years we have run a structured beginners programme throughout the Autumn whereby we take a group of newcomers, bringing them on with some coaching each week until they can take part in wider group spins and become full members. Space is limited in this program so please email us dublinwheelers at gmail.com to enroll along with your contact details. You are required to have a basic level of fitness for this program i.e. be able to cycle for 1-2 hours at a moderate pace. You MUST have a helmet and you MUST have a road/race bike.


Starting from October 1st 2016, we will hold three months of beginner training spins. The purpose of these spins will be to welcome new members to the club and to introduce newcomers to cycling in a group. You will learn to ride in a double pace-line, bike-handling skills and on-the-road bike maintenance.


These spins will take place on twelve consecutive Saturday mornings through October/November/December. These spins will be led and controlled by at least two DWCC members (Route Leaders). Nobody will be left behind or dropped and there will be a number of coffee shops visited. Bring 5-10 with you each Saturday. Distance will be approximately 40km for Week 1. This will gradually increase to 75-80km by the conclusion of the three month period. Routes will be relatively flat. Avg. Speed: 20-24kmph. This group will join the B touring spin from the end of December.
